Odisseia, Jean-Hugues Gros, Douro, Portugal 2022 (13% Vol)

Made from a blend of indiginous varieties Viosinho 40%, Rabigato 40% and Côdega de Larinho 20% grown between 450-650m altitude. The wine has a light yellow colour, it is made protectively for a fresh and clean style with vibrant fruit character. The nose is bursting with citrus notes such as grapefruit and stone fruit such as white peach, nectarine peel and honeysuckle. The concentrated fruit on the palate is balanced with fresh acidity and round mouth feel, leaving you with a long finish of ripe stone fruit.

In the background there is a floral touch, with white flowers. On the palate it is round, homogeneous, elegant, with good acidity. At the end, light notes of toast are perceived. The nose is dominated by mature fruits, vanilla and spices. The palate is well-balanced and complex with blackcurrant and spicy notes, combined with more black fruit. Good structure and refreshing acidity. Wonderful with rare lamb chops.
