For this year's Christmas Selection Box No. 2 we have chosen three whites and three reds which are slightly more upmarket (averaging around the £20 mark). These have been carefully chosen to show some of the best wines Evington's have in this price bracket. Available for the discounted price of £112.

Stonier Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula, Australia 2017 (13.5% Vol)
Regular price £21.45
On the nose - cashew nuts, citrus, honey and oak. On the palate - peach and honey balanced by notes of toast and a satiating mineral finish.

Vouvray Classic, Marc Bredif, Loire, France 2023, 2024 (12.5% Vol)
Regular price £21.95
A fine nose of peach, pear, pineapple and hints of citrus. On the palate - lemony freshness and a long, lively exotic fruit finish. Goes well with mild Indian curries.

Alba Vega Albariño, Rias Baixas, Spain 2024 (12.5% Vol)
Regular price £18.15
A new project wine between local growers in Galicia and Rioja Vega. The result is a wonderful example of Albariño, affordable, fresh, interesting and offering ripe pear, baked apple and saline zest, with a core of nervy raciness running through the textural body - whilst the perfect garden wine (when the sun comes out) this is also a cracking alternative to the likes of Sancerre or Chablis if you just want to try a high class, complex and fruit-driven crisp white.

Consensus Pinot Noir - Touriga Nacional, Lisboa, Portugal 2022 (13.5% Vol)
Regular price £16.75
Showing intense and complex red fruit aromas on the nose. The palate is full bodied with ripe cassis and summer fruit flavours complemented by dried fruit and spice notes and a hint of vanilla. The finish is dry and long.

Urbina Seleccion Blue Label, Rioja, Spain 2000 (13.5% Vol)
Regular price £20.75
A very concentrated nose of berries, damsons and figs. Full bodied on the palate, with rich fruit cake and hints of savoury vanilla. This fantastic wine is well structured with mellow, firm tannins and fine elegance.

Guigal Cotes du Rhone, Rhône Valley, France 2021, 2022 (14.5% Vol)
Regular price £14.80
50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre.

''Winemaking - Traditional wine-making methods, temperature controlled fermentation. Long soaking on the skins.
Ageing - 1 ½ years in oak foudres.
Eye : Deep and dark red.
Nose : Fresh fruits with red berries and spices.
Palate : Full, round and racy. Rounded and smooth tannins. A full-bodied, rich and intensly aromatic wine.
Overall : Full with a long finish and plenty of elegance and finesse due to the well balanced tannins and fruit.'' E.Guigal
