February Selection Box 2026 (Portugal)

For February's Selection Box we are visiting Portugal. Portuguese wine continues to go from strength to strength - a very wide spectrum of different grape varieties and styles makes for some great drinking! This is slightly more premium than our usual monthly box, but we definitely think it's worth the extra few quid. Six fantastic bottles available for the discounted price of £87.

Altano Branco, Symington, Douro, Portugal 2023, 2024 (12.5% Vol)

Wide aromatic range, beginning with hints of flint and traces of vanilla, then crème brûlée and lemon curd. Notes of butterscotch and a citric acidity which balances the structure on the palate. Good with creamy chicken dishes.

Quinta da Fonte Souto Florao Branco, Alentejano, Portugal 2024 (13.5% Vol)

On the nose - green apples, mango and a hint of pineapple. On the palate - crisp with fine acidity, showing melon, lemon and golden plum flavours.

On the nose - floral aromas and focussed fresh fruit. On the palate - red fruits and brambles accompanied by soft smooth tannins. Excellent with soft cheeses.

On the nose - hints of pine resin, floral notes and red fruit. Full bodied on the palate, black fruit with a touch of liquorice and fine tannins make this wine a great match for rich, hearty dishes.

Terra d'Alter Alicante Bouschet, Alentejano, Portugal 2021, 2022 (14.5% Vol)

On the nose - dark fruit and spice. On the palate - plums and prunes, with smooth tannins combine with good levels of acidity to provide a long rich finish with some good acidity. Excellent with roast beef.

Consensus Pinot Noir - Touriga Nacional, Lisboa, Portugal 2022 (13.5% Vol)

Showing intense and complex red fruit aromas on the nose. The palate is full bodied with ripe cassis and summer fruit flavours complemented by dried fruit and spice notes and a hint of vanilla. The finish is dry and long.
