This month we are sticking with the Iberian Peninsula and visiting the wonderful wine making country of Portugal! The quality and variety of Portuguese wines have continued to rise and rise over previous decades and we've got six absolute stunners for you in this month's Selection Box. Quinta da Fonte Souto Florao Branco, Alentejano, Portugal 2021/22 (13.5% Vol) Regular Price £14.35 On the nose - green apples, mango and a hint of pineapple. On the palate - crisp with fine acidity, showing melon, lemon and golden plum flavours. Pairs beautifully with spicy prawn dishes. 

Altano Branco, Symington, Douro, Portugal 2022 (12.5% Vol) Regular price £12.95 Wide aromatic range, beginning with hints of flint and traces of vanilla, then crème brûlée and lemon curd. Notes of butterscotch and a citric acidity which balances the structure on the palate. Good with creamy chicken dishes. 

Terra d'Alter Verdelho, Alentejano, Portugal 2020/21 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £14.89 On the nose - fruity, slight floral perfume, apple and a hint of citrus. On the palate - medium acidity brings out the fruit and leaves a lingering finish. A fine apéritif. 

Quinta da Fonte Souto Florão Red, Alentejano, Portugal 2018/19 (14% Vol) Regular price £14.35 On the nose - hints of pine resin, floral notes and red fruit. Full bodied on the palate, black fruit with a touch of liquorice and fine tannins make this wine a great match for rich, hearty dishes. 

Altano Tinto, Symington, Douro, Portugal 2020/21 (14% Vol) Regular price £12.85 On the nose - floral aromas and focussed fresh fruit. On the palate - red fruits and brambles accompanied by soft smooth tannins. Excellent with soft cheeses. 

Terra d'Alter Alfrocheiro, Alentejano, Portugal 2021 (13.5% Vol) Regular price £14.95 On the nose there are dark berry aromas with blackcurrants, plums and damsons together with hints of cloves and vanilla. Full bodied and smooth, this wine goes extremely well with rib-eye steak.
