June Selection Box 2025 (Italy)

The six wines in this month's Selection Box come from Italy, a country synonymous with fantastic food and wonderful wines. We have a lovely Moscato Frizzante DOC from Piemonte, a crisp fresh Grillo from Sicily, a lovely Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi from Marche, a very good Sangiovese also from Marche, a deep rich Salice Salentino Riserva from Puglia and an exquisite Brindisi Riserva. Lovely fruity nose with nuances of honeysuckle and sweet apple. Refreshing and light on the palate with a mild fizz, this wine acts as great 'palate cleanser'.

Typical Grillo bouquet of apricot, white peach and a hint of herbs. Intense and fresh on the palate, with a pleasant minerality. Macaroni cheese is the perfect partner for this wine.

The nose has distinctive aromas of cocoa and leather. On the palate, it has black fruit, fig, dark chocolate, balanced by a good amount of acidity and oak. Great with tomato-based pasta dishes.

Brindisi Reserva, Sampietrana, Puglia, Italy 2021 (13.5% Vol)

An aroma of woodland fruits is dominant on the nose. On the palate it is delicate, lightly tannic and has persistent flavours of cherry fruit and spice, leading to a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. Pairs well with mild chilli and bean pasta bake.
