March Selection Box 2025 (Spain)

As the weather warms and the sun comes out, we thought it would suitable to feature Spain as this month's destination for our monthly Selection Box. We have a lovely fragrant blend of Moscatel and Gewurztraminer from Catalonia, a beautiful white Rioja by Bodegas Campillo and a crisp and complex rosé made with Viura, Garnacha and Tempranillo. For the reds - an award winning old vine Garnacha, a Monastrell, Garnacha and Tempranillo blend from Almansa and a single varietal Garnacha from Campo de Borga. Torres Viña Esmeralda, Catalonia, Spain 2022/24 (11.5% Vol)

Notes of tropical fruits and orange blossom on the nose. The palate shows passion fruit, pear, banana and lychee. Makes a fine aperitif. 

Campillo Blanco Barrell Fermented, Rioja, Spain 2023 (13% Vol)

''Clean, bright, straw yellow with greenish flashes. On the nose it has broad honeyed notes. The oak barrel is present - showing vanilla aromas. In the background there is a floral touch, with white flowers. On the palate it is round, homogeneous, elegant and with good acidity. At the end, light notes of toast are perceived. Marius Reserva, Almansa, Spain 2020 (14% Vol)

50% Monastrell, 25% Garnacha Tintorera, 25% Tempranillo. Intense and seductive aromas of damsons, plums, cassis and vanilla on the nose. Rich and velvety on the palate with berry fruits, black pepper and cassis. With fine tannins and long plummy finish, this wine is drinking well now but could be laid down to age. Great with sirloin steak.

Aragonia Garnacha Selección Especial, Campo de Borja, Spain 2019/20 (14.5% Vol)

On the nose - ripe red fruits with some mineral tones and slightly roasted spices. The palate is broad, harmonious and structured, with a very long finish. Great with spicy chorizo dishes.
