This month we have decided to show how different some wines from the same grape variety can be. All of these comparisons are from different price brackets also, with the second wine listed being £16+ as opposed to the first one being around the £12 mark. We have an excellent New World Sauvignon Blanc from Chile and a classic French Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, a surprisingly full bodied Pinot Noir from Bulgaria and an elegant higher end Pinot by Errazuriz, a Sangiovese from Marche in Italy and a Sangiovese from a very good English producer (Matt Ridgway) in the Colchagua Valley in Chile. These 6 excellent wines are available for the discounted price of £87.

Santa Luz Sauvignon Blanc Gran Reserva, Leyda Valley, Chile 2021 (13% Vol)
Regular price £10.90
This wine is made from ripe, hand harvested grapes grown in the prestigious Leyda Valley, a place famous for producing premium quality white wines that are more than a match for those Sauvignon's hailing from Marlborough or The Cape.

Menetou-Salon les Thureaux, Joseph Mellot, Loire, France 2022 (13% Vol)
Regular price £16.80
On the nose - intense tropical and citrus fruit aromas, leading to a palate of peach and minerality that adds lovely balance. Grilled white meats or fish go beautifully with this versatile wine.

Chateau Burgozone Cotes du Danube Pinot Noir 2021/22 (14.5% Vol)
Regular price £12.35
This Pinot Noir is packed full of soft, juicy red fruits. An interesting and long finish makes this a very 'quaffable' wine. Excellent with roast chicken.

Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir, Errazuriz, Aconcagua Valley, Chile 2020/22 (13.5% Vol)
Regular price £17.90
On the nose, this Pinot Noir shows red fruits, floral notes, spices and a hint of smoke. The palate is dominated by fresh red fruits and floral notes. It has great structure and freshness, with round tannins that make it a very attractive wine. Good with slow cooked lamb.

Volpi ERA Sangiovese, Marche, Italy 2020 (13% Vol)
Regular price £12.95
Deep dark fruit with hints of liquorice and pepper on the nose. Well rounded on the palate with firm tannins and a good long finish. Lovey with any hearty winter stew.

La Despensa Boutique Estate Sangiovese, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2021 (14% Vol)
Regular price £19.95
Some fairly typical savoury notes of tomato and sour cherry, but counter-balanced by the fruit-forward nature of the style of wine. Tannins and acidity will help the wine age gracefully for several years or it can be enjoyed immediately. A very versatile wine which accompanies pretty much all styles and types of food. Goes particularly well with rich tomato-based pasta sauces.
