October Selection Box 2025 (Southern France)

The six excellent wines for our October Selection Box all come from Southern France. We have carefully chosen a range of different grape varieties and producers - all of whom make wines to the highest standard, which are worthy of our shelves. Connoisseur Sauvignon Blanc, La Beauté du Lac, Gascony, France 2024 (11% Vol)

Made by Elizabeth Prataviera in south-west France. This is a highly quaffable and fruity style of Sauvignon Blanc. The nose has aromas of lychees and white flower blossom. The palate is fresh, lemony, and utterly delicious.

The grapes have been grown on shallow stony soils. Vinification is in stainless steel and concrete tanks to achieve the perfect aromatic blend.

Serve this with seafood, grilled fish or goats cheese.

Bila-Haut Les Vignes Cotes-du-Roussillon Blanc, M.Chapoutier, Roussillon, France 2022

On the nose this wine exhibits floral and citrus aromas (lemon, grapefruit) with smoky notes. On the palate, it's fresh and very aromatic with round body/structure and a pleasant acidity (coming from the later ripening sites at higher altitude). A lot of freshness on the finish mixed with an expression of minerality.

Le Raconteur Cabernet Sauvignon, Southern France 2022 (12.5% Vol)

On the nose - black fruits and spicy notes. On the palate - flavours of elderberry, bramble, cinnamon and orange zest. Soft, round tannins provide a silky finish.

Cabernet Franc 1620, Lorgeril, Languedoc, France 2021 (12.5% Vol)

This wine is ripe and juicy with black-fruit tones on the nose. On the palate it shows fruity and savoury notes, with great elegance for the price. Good with coq au vin.

Chateau La Bastide Tradition Rouge, Corbieres, France 2022 (14.5% Vol)

60% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre creates a wine with plum, dark chocolate, cherry and some peppery notes. Rich powerful and smooth with good balance. Perfect with red meat stews.

Château de Flore, Cahors, France 2021 (13.5% Vol)

Intense red fruit bouquet with morello cherry at the forefront. On tasting, the wine bursts with redcurrant, warm sweet spice and liquorice. Supple, with fine tannins, generous in fruit and good length.
